EAP Instructions
Step 1: Meet with and engage client. Develop rapport. Explain the program. Find out about their life and current challenges. Complete an assessment of barriers to employment and a plan to address those barriers. The plan should generally include short-term EAP counseling, referral to treatment resources and community resources to address barriers. Click the red button below to complete.
Step 2: Log into https://bit.ly/EAP_W4K and enter relevant data.
Step 3: Write up an assessment report for VR counselor; see a sample by clicking the button below.
Step 4: Refer the client to the OCS-dedicated partner VR Counselor and VABIR Employment Consultant (EC). Ideally make this a warm hand-off. All VR Regional managers have agreed that these referrals (to VR and EC) may happen simultaneously due to the pressured timeline of OCS. Most offices have found it most effective to schedule regular, periodic meetings for the three of you, where a new client may be introduced. Please be sure to indicate the VR Counselor and EC to whom the client was referred, and the date of referral. This can be done at the website listed in Step 5 below. Referrals to VR/VABIR are generally made by the second session.
Step 5: Please update the database as additional information becomes available. You do that at https://bit.ly/w4klog or by simply clicking the orange Activity Log button above. If a client does not show for their first appointment, you should mark them as non-compliant here. Please update the log with any activity that will help demonstrate to the courts that this client is following through, in the activity section to the right. Make basic compliance notes on the left.
All data should be entered into the system within 2 business days! Thanks!
